Dr. George Mnisi
Welcome to the Union Bible Institute!
Thank you for taking the time to visit our website. At UBI we take pleasure in receiving and training students who have been called by God to serve Him. Over the years, since the founding of the institution in 1942, the institution has produced many leaders who have gone back to serve the Lord in various parts of the Lord’s harvest field. UBI is a non-denominational training institution – hence we admit qualifying students from any denomination or organization that agrees with our Mission Statement.
The UBI community is made of staff and students who come from diverse backgrounds from South Africa and other countries. The student body normally includes students from South Africa, Lesotho, Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Zambia. As a result, several languages are spoken on the campus. This scenario is an added advantage for the students’ training as they learn to live with people from different backgrounds before they go into full time ministry. The godly atmosphere on the campus makes it easy for the different people groups to live in harmony with one another. While at UBI, some of the students and staff develop relationships that last long into their years of service in the body of Christ.
Our current programmes accommodate students who can study full time as well as those who can only study in the evenings after a full day’s work. Our dedicated full time and part time staff is able to service both groups of students from Monday to Friday – giving the students lectures during the day and in the evenings. During their training, students have the opportunity to put into practice what they are learning in class through practical ministry assignments.
The students’ lives are taken care of both on the social and spiritual levels while they are being trained. This is done through small groups that each student is assigned to where they meet and discuss spiritual and social issues that matter in their chosen career path. These groups are supervised by our staff members throughout the students’ stay at UBI. We do our best to maintain good relationships at all times among staff and students as well as between the institution and the sending Churches or organizations.
From your partner in the Lord’s field,
George Mnisi.
